Since 2006, the Sunday Islamic school or weekend Islamic School as known in other places has been running with the main aim to provide islamic education to children of the Muslim community of Dunedin. This is the only formal Islamic education place in Dunedin which run on volunteer basis by the undergraduate students and the residents of Dunedin.

 

Currently we are restructuring the curriculum and the school with visions to:

 

1) Meet the increase numbers of enrolled children with more teachers and volunteers

2) Expand the facilities available to provide a better schooling environment within the mosque

3) Expand the school capacity to include after school programme/transit between 3pm to 5pm every school day

 

These visions require manpower, expertise and capital which we are actively being pursued by the current management of the Sunday School together with Otago Muslim Association committee.
